Adventures In (And Around) Lincoln

Okay, so if someone had told me yesterday at 3 pm that at 10:30 pm Britt, Teetz, and I would be driving around aimlessly witha 6-pack of High Life (bottled only, I can not drink Miller High Life from a can - it tastes different), I would have wondered what the heck you were on. But that's exactly how the evening played out.

First things first, Teetz and I started watching FRIENDS (along with playing our drinking game). He's been sick and wasn't up for alcohol yet, which was good because we had a chance to test how well we could keep up with the rules sober by using Kool-Aid. It was tough sober and had we been using alcohol, we would have been hammered after only two episodes. It was great. Anyway, we decided watching two episodes was enough, that we would continue another time, but it was only nine and we didn't want to end the evening quite yet. I had to leave however, because his devil cat Tuffy (who's name is really Muffy but I have since rechristened upon meeting) was making my allergies go nuts. We thought about bowling on East Campus, and called Britt, but I also wanted chicken from KFC for some reason, so we're driving all around Lincoln, we get the chicken and are heading to East Campus just to see if the place is open. We doubted it, and we were right, but sometimes you can have the best time driving around with your two best friends, not really having a destination at all. Oh, but we would have one soon enough. Sort of.

Being the big city girl that I am, I have never partaken in this rite of passage known as drinking out on some back country road. While neither Teetz nor Britt are from small town, they both have enjoyed said experience, so that's what led us to the Super Saver on 56th for a sixer of High Life. We weren't looking to get drunk, just to do something different than we usually do. Boy, did we.

You miht think it is easy to find a gravel road outside Lincoln that is someone secluded enough so that the farmers will not see you invading their field to drink a few beers. Apparently, that is not the case. While passing several prime location, Teetz manages to stumble right upon a town - Roca, to be exact. (On a side note, this place has a very fun haunted hayrack ride/haunted house, etc. My junior year the sorority had a date dash, and we ended up going to the Roca Berry Farm that has all the fun Halloween stuff every year. It was good, and moreso it was scary because just a few days prior, Adam and I had gone to see Texas Chainsaw Massacre, then while on the hayrack ride, this guy comes out of the woods with a chainsaw and who's the first person he comes after? Moi, of course. It scared the crap out of me - even though Michael Myers is still the scariest psychopath of all time, but more on that arguement at a later time, Freddy and Jason got NOTHING on Michael Myers!) Anyway, yes, you would think a random field/dirt road would be easy enough to find in fucking Nebraska, but no, we find a whole damn town. Granted, it's Roca, which doesn't have that many people anyway, but still. So we keep driving and end up on hi-way 33 where we finally find this perfect spot - except right across the road is the house where the farmer lives who presumably owns this land. Plus, we were off a main road that was by no mean busy, but there were definitely more than a few cars passing by.

Don't worry, we found our spot eventually, and it really is perfect and we got out of the car and stood around just drinking and talking, though I kept freaking Teetz out with references to the movie Jeepers Creepers, which in turn freaked myself out becuase who has never had their eyes play tricks on them in the dark? It looked like two figures were standing on top of the hill looking down at us, and it freaked me out, but it was fun. But it was also getting chilly, so eventually we got back in the car and drove back to Lincoln. It was a lot of fun, and even though this little adventure might sound dumb to some of you, this is exactly the ind of stuff I was talking about a few posts back, when Britt and I used to just go and do whatever and we didn't really think about it or the future, or what other people thought. I am glad we have broadened Teetz's horizons by including him in random escapades. It's god for him. :)

Nothing much else going on worht nothing, exceopt Drake got back on Friday and we went to dinner and it was good and eveything is ten times stronger than it was when we parted for Christmas break. There was still a lo of stuff we had to talk about, and it is al out in the open now and I think we both feel a lot better. Yay. I missed him a lot. Plus, I'd rather be at Cather anyway, because we all know about that poor excuse for an aparentment that my stuff is currently being stored in.

Days til my bar night birthday: four! (boo, I have to work on Friday until 9:30, so we're going out at 10)

Days til my real birthday: eight!

But it looked like it! It really did! Don't you love scaring the crap out of yourself? I do. And yes, that probably has to be one of the most fun things the three of us have ever done.
